Soft socialism, expressed politically as tax and spend, entitlement government, does not work. Indeed, the redistribution of wealth cannot work in the long run. As the great F.A. Hayek said:
From the fact that people are very different it follows that, if we treat them equally, the result must be inequality in their actual position, and that the only way to place them in an equal position would be to treat them differently. Equality before the law and material equality are therefore not only different but are in conflict with each other; and we can achieve either one or the other, but not both at the same time.It's time to return to free market principles, deregulation, defunding entitlements, and replacing socialist economics taught in schools with market ideals.
No, the market system isn't perfect, but it's got a far better shot at preserving freedom for all than adopting state-run, soft socialism.
