Supreme Court nominee Elena Kagan shoots the bull with Sen. Patrick Leahy (D) of Vermont. President Obama, by nominating Kagan, apparently wants the Supreme Court to fling the bull at the American people.
I have three basic problems with Elena Kagan's nomination to the Supreme Court.
Problem 1: Kagan Is An Unknown - Just Like Obama Was
The first is the fact that she is a complete unknown and without any experience sitting on the bench as a judge. While this may be precisely the reason many are attracted to her, let's keep in mind that this is exactly the same mold from which Barack Obama emerged as a candidate for President of the United States.
Obama has proved time and again his weakness in dealing with an out-of-control Congress and has demonstrated time and again his complete lack of ability in foreign policy. We point to Obama's mistakes and ask ourselves if we can really support another unknown liberal force in the highest branches of our government?
Problem 2: Kagan Is An Obama Crony
Do we really want Obama-style politics in the Supreme Court? Here's what Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell (R) of Kentucky had to say about it:
“It’s my hope that the Obama administration doesn’t think the ideal Supreme Court nominee is someone who would rubber stamp its policies,” Senator McConnell said. “But this nomination does raise the question. And it’s a question that needs to be answered. Americans want to know that Ms. Kagan will be independent, that she won’t prejudge cases based on her personal opinions, that she’ll treat everyone equally, as the judicial oath requires.” (CSMonitor.com)The answer Senator is that, of course, Kagan (and Obama) have an agenda to set based on their extreme liberal views of large government and anti-moralism.
Problem 3: Kagan's Nomination Is Supported By The Most Liberal Groups In America
And this is the biggest sticking point. Those who would argue that Kagan will be fair and open minded, only view her through liberalism's distorted lens - a lens that only allows one world view, its own.
Case in point is this revelation about Kagan's supporters:
"Kagan’s backers have wasted no time advocating on her behalf. On Monday, the day of her nomination, a group called the Coalition for Constitutional Values was already up with a biographical TV ad supporting her. The White House produced its own feel-good video, which Obama’s political wing at the Democratic National Committee is encouraging supporters to share with friends via e-mail." (CSMonitor.com)The "Coalition for Constitutional Values" is a smokescreen website created and maintained by the Leadership Conference, a collection of some of the most liberal and destructive factions in the US today, including the likes of Lambda Legal, the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, PFLAG, Pride at Work and others. These groups actively attempt to redefine marriage and to destroy religious freedom in this country.
Why would such groups support Kagan, an "unknown" in the judicial world? Because they, like the rest of us, know full well that Kagan is another Obama-like ideologue who will support an interpretation of the Constitution based on maintaining government control over Americans through mindless adherence to the religion of liberalism, stepping on speech rights, discounting any serious opposition (such as Tea Parties), denigrating religion to make the first amendment meaningless, and ignoring conservatism.
Update: Breitbart finds Obama statement saying we must be careful with a "blank slate" nominee. Even Obama admits Kagan is a risky nominee.
