Ardolis Chapman of the Cincinnati Reds threw 25 pitches over 100 mph, including a record breaking 105 mph pitch.
I don't spend a lot of time watching sports but I like to watch an occasional game, usually confined to baseball or basketball. My wife watches even less than I do. That's why, when she came to me yesterday to mention that a Reds pitcher, Ardolis Chapman, threw a 105 mph fastball, we both sat up to take notice.
No, I'm not going to suddenly start writing articles about sports. Yet any of you who know anything about baseball can appreciate just how doggone fast a 105 mph pitch really is. And, remarkably, Chapmen threw all 25 of his pitches to close the Reds/Padres game all over 100 mph. Unfortunately, the Reds lost to the Padres 4-3.
Yet the Red's loss was completely overshadowed by Chapman's record breaking pitch and spectacular fastball performance that saw, not one, but three pitches at 104 mph and 25 straight pitches above 100 mph.
I'm sure some of my readers wonder if I have a real life, outside of snarking about power-mongering politics and silly leftists. Let's just say that I certainly can appreciate a lot of other things in the world, including Ardolis Chapman's world record pitch.
