Springfield XD 9mm Subcompact is my gun of choice for conceal carry.

In a 5-4 decision today, the US Supreme Court upheld its position that the Second Amendment applies to individual rights to keep and bear arms. This overturns Chicago's gun control laws, just as the court overturned Washington D.C.'s gun control laws two years ago.

What I find interesting is how this was reported. For example, FOX News led with this story:

FOXNews:
In its second major ruling on gun rights in three years, the Supreme Court Monday extended the federally protected right to keep and bear arms to all 50 states. The decision will be hailed by gun rights advocates and comes over the opposition of gun control groups, the city of Chicago and four justices.
By contrast, I had to search deeply into CNN's online site to come up with this:

High court strikes down Chicago handgun ban:
In another dramatic victory for firearm owners, the Supreme Court has ruled unconstitutional Chicago, Illinois', 28-year-old strict ban on handgun ownership, a potentially far-reaching case over the ability of state and local governments to enforce limits on weapons.
Obviously the bias at FOX indicates the Court decision is a good thing, while CNN would rather bury the story and clearly demonstrates its bias in favor of gun control.

Of course, liberals everywhere will bemoan the Court decision since it interferes with the modern liberal ideal of more government control and statist constriction on the constitutionalized civil rights of all Americans.

In my view, this is a happy chapter in the interpretation and enforcement of the all-important Second Amendment right for all citizens to keep and bear arms. The civil right protects the inalienable right of self-protection.
