The Arizona law to control immigration, that mimics the federal law, certainly has received a lot of press. As we would expect, the Mexican-American population and bleeding heart liberals all accuse the entire state of Arizona as racist. The far right has set out to prove them right. Most people, from all over the country, support the Arizona law for the simple reason that the feds have refused to adequately enforce current federal law (71% in Arizona with 55% favoring similar laws in other states).
Now the federal government, afraid to be undermined by states' rights, has filed its lawsuit against the State of Arizona. Here's a copy of the filed lawsuit.
Here's my take on the lawsuit under the current administration under Barack Obama: Why, when Obama certainly doesn't seem to care for enforcement of the US Constitution as written, does he now insist on pursuing a lawsuit based on a strict reading of it?
From AZCentral.com:
The notion of federal intervention has drawn criticism from members of Arizona's congressional delegation from both sides of the aisle. Rep. Harry Mitchell, D-Ariz., released a statement shortly after the lawsuit was announced saying the federal government was taking the wrong approach to solving the immigration problem.
'This is the wrong direction to go. I urged President Obama and his administration against doing so because I strongly believe their time, efforts and resources should be focused on securing our border and fixing our broken immigration system,' Mitchell's statement read. 'Arizona needs Washington to take action, but a lawsuit is definitely not the kind of action we need.'We can draw several conclusions from the federal lawsuit.
1) The Obama administration is only interested in securing federal power. Real conservatives (not fake conservative Republicans), Tea Partiers, and recently, the moderate independents have noted this trend toward statism.
2) The ideology of Obama's leftists considers racism as a political ploy to ensure the votes of certain blocs of Americans. Playing on the fears of Mexican-Americans, Obama, and certain Democrats, use this as a tool to wage more class warfare.
3) The Obama administration is using this lawsuit to deflect attention from the real problem: the failure of federal immigration to enforce immigration law. Why don't the feds enforce the law? Refer to reason #2.
Call me a pessimist, but I can think of no reason for the lawsuit other than as a political ploy by the leftist Democrats and Obama to curry favor with the class divide leftists who only see the nation in terms of class and race. To them, "E pluribus unum" is a false ideal. To the followers of this ideology we always remain a country "E pluribus, somes pluribus."
