Info Post
The Snarky Files. Snarky means several things. I prefer the definition of "sharply critical." Here's my take on some news stories this past week. No real news here, just snark.

Military Follies
President Obama signed the new law allowing gays to openly serve in the military (Yahoo News). Besides the 13% of Americans who still persist in supporting Congress, who really thinks that such a law will really bring "fairness" into the military or will "strengthen our military" as Obama notes?

Does anyone really think that we're not heading for a train wreck between straights and gays in the military? How about a clash of ideologies down the road when gay activists use the repeal of Don't Ask Don't Tell as a legal wedge to empower the courts to redefine the Constitution in their own image?

Not Neutrality
The FCC caved in to power mongering and decided to impose regulations directly on internet providers and content corporations (WSJ). In the past, entities such as the FCC have responded with regulations to work out problems that have arisen out of corporate monopolies. This new set of regulations is designed to "prevent" future problems.

Is this the new form of "preventative warfare" that we got from the Bush Doctrine, or is this just another power grab by a government agency to control information?

Dead and Buried
The current Congress (which thankfully will end soon) has passed more laws than any other Congress for 50 years (Bloomberg). It also has the lowest congressional approval rating in Gallup history at 13% approval (Gallup).

Surely the two statistics must be linked.

Shifty
With the release of the data gathered during this year's census, the GOP has gained some seats in Congress (Yahoo Finance). The report notes that the last decade's growth rate is the lowest since the Great Depression (the one in the 1930s, not the one we're currently suffering).

What does this mean? I don't know. I'm just sorry to see that Whack California didn't lose any congressional seats.

Objectified
A new study shows that prime time television "objectifies and fetishizes" underage girls (Fox News).

Well, duh. Yet once again the entertainment industry proves its "cutting edge" programming by ignoring any semblance of morals. It's time to kill your television.

Politically Incorrect
I wish you all a safe and blessed Christmas and a better New Year. If you're offended by Christmas, then I suggest you keep your moralizing out of my face.
